To assist in communication and promotion of a workplace health and safety culture within the organisation, R2R Services’ has developed its OHS management system around the R U Safe logo. 120920_RUSAFE_logo.png

The promotion is designed to ingrain into employees the importance of safety and living and working in a safe and healthy manner, not just in the workplace, but life generally.

R2R Services’ Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) establishes a framework for identifying risks, controlling risks, assessing the effectiveness of those controls and continuous improvement of the management of OHS and is a formal documented system that:

  • Ensures a client contract is executed without any harm to people or assets
  • Drives a culture – the R U Safe culture - within R2R Services where individuals take personal responsibility for safety, where safe behaviour is reinforced and unsafe behaviours not tolerated
  • Enables unsafe activities to be stopped and corrected immediately
  • Meets the requirements of a client’s policies, procedures, current  OHS legislation and Standards
  • Ensures continuous improvement in OHS management

The OHSMs identifies the OHS framework and management activities that will be carried out in support of its operations and are to be applied to the services provided under a contract.

The system also provides for the effective management of workplace injuries and the satisfactory return to work of injured workers and applies to all activities of R2R Services and includes hazards and risks which the organisation can either control or influence.

The OHSMS is designed to eliminate or where not reasonably practicable minimise risk to the health, safety and well-being of persons at R2R Services’ sites. The approach reflects the principles of AS / NZS 4801 and OHSAS 18001 and legislation identified in the Register of Legal and Other Requirements.

It consists of the following elements:

  • Consultation and Communication
  • OHS Training and Competency
  • Recordkeeping and Document Control
  • OHS Risk Management
  • Process Control – Operating Procedures
  • Purchases
  • Emergency Response and Preparedness
  • Inspection and Testing
  • Workplace and OHS Statistics
  • Health Surveillance
  • Corrective and Preventive Action
  • Internal Audits
  • Management Review

The following documents/procedures have been prepared to ensure the abovementioned elements are successfully implemented:

  • An OHS Management Manual
  • An OHS Management Plan
  • Management System Procedures (MSP’s) that transacts systemic requirements to the workplace (and are integrated with the Quality and Environmental Management Systems)
  • Safety Operating Procedures (SOP’s) that provide administrative controls for the conduct of safe workplace activity
  • Tools and forms to conduct and record system and workplace activity
  • Meetings Minutes, Change Request Forms and Incident Report Forms that provide traceability of consultation and communication activity and review
  • Media that communicates system activity (non document controlled) and management decisions

A copy of the OHS Management Plan can be obtained upon request.

R2R Services’ management ensures that the appropriate resources are defined and made available to ensure that its policies and standards are implemented as intended. These resources include personnel, technology, hardware and financial support. Where necessary, external resources may be engaged to provide specialist support or evaluate the implementation of the OHS management system.
